Hey there, I’m Rana.

ADHD COACH, WOODEND

I am an ADHD Coach through ADDCA- the ADD Coaching Academy in New York, and trained counsellor, residing in the beautiful Macedon Ranges, Victoria where I made the ‘tree-change’ from inner city Melbourne during COVID with my husband and two boys.

My coaching style is enriched by my experience as a psychotherapist, my educational background in Anthropology & Sociology, and my time spent working as a crisis support counsellor.

My own diagnosis journey was an unintended consequence of trying to be the best advocate I could be for my oldest son who is Autistic with an intellectual disability and severe ADHD. My ability to hyper focus on interests, combined with a desire to learn ways to support my son resulted in me accumulating a wealth of knowledge on neurodivergence and eventually my own life changing ADHD diagnosis.

Finding out I had ADHD at 39 was like winning the "Aha!" jackpot! The diagnosis provided fresh insights into everything from my ‘class clown’ persona in school to mask my learning and attention difficulties, to my apparent aversion to concentrating on uninteresting matters or manage my time affectively. It shed light on my ability to generate creative business concepts (albeit with faltering implementation), along with my peculiar talent for accumulating and dispersing half-drunk coffee cups throughout the entire household!

It is a genuine privilege to now be working as an ADHD coach, and it brings me great joy to partner with others on their journey to create a life with less chaos and a deeper sense of clarity and fulfilment.

What it’s like to work with me.

REFRAME YOUR PERSPECTIVE

Living with ADHD can be downright tough. Despite the depth of research and efficacy of medication, stigma surrounding ADHD persists, intersecting with mental and physical health issues alongside potential addictions and other complexities. This can result in poor self-esteem, rumination, 'imposter syndrome,' emotional dysregulation, and rejection sensitivity.

In addition to helping people thrive in an ADHD-friendly life, I’m passionate about reframing negative self-beliefs. While the treasure trove of ADHD-specific tips helps to navigate daily challenges, the emotional toll often remains unaddressed. I work with individuals to alter their self-talk and rewrite their narratives into empowering ones. This process is tailored to each client, using their language, belief systems, and values at their own pace.

NEUROAFFIRMING COACHING

The neurodiversity paradigm views ADHD as a natural variation in human cognition and experience, and rejects pathologizing ADHD and outdated notions of needing to 'fix' ADHD individuals. Instead, a neuroaffirming approach aims to provide you with appropriate and personalized supports, accommodations, and resources to help you navigate the challenges you face.

I am committed to neuro-affirming coaching, focusing on strengths rather than deficits.

During our sessions I encourage you to employ tools that enhance your focus such as fidget objects or doodling on paper. Eye contact is completely optional. Whatever enhances your engagement in coaching is fully supported! I offer sessions in person, via zoom, telephone or nature-based walking sessions for local clients.

POSITIVITY & RESPECT

My coaching philosophy is anchored in positivity and respect. During our sessions, imagine a sanctuary of non-judgement. My aim is to provide a confidential and safe space where you feel comfortable and authentic.

Coaching helps to empower neurodivergent people to advocate for themselves, express their needs and actively participate in decisions that affect their lives.

While my own lived experience of ADHD informs my approach, I'm acutely aware of the diversity inherent in each person’s experience. I respect and celebrate the richness of ADHD personalities, strengths, communication, and processing styles, and I adapt my approach to their needs.
